About Me
I am an educator who comes from a rich family history of educators! Blessed to grow up with parents who were passionate about education and the opportunities it provides. Growing up I was afforded opportunities to explore, experience, and learn about my interests. It is my belief that is what sparked my passion for learning and my desire to continue being a lifelong learner.
As well as being an educator, I am also an artist! I started my journey as an artist during my secondary education and decided to pursue art as a part of my undergrad studies. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Visual Studies. This field of study combined studio art and education which has allowed me to blend my passion for education with my love of art.
As a dog mom, I am obsessed with my two fur babies! I have two boys named Ted. E and Fitz (These are the short versions. For the full versions, reach out and connect with me!). My pups are the center of my husband and I’s life and they definitely love taking charge of our family’s fun! My husband and I also enjoy live music, comic or poster conventions, and geeking out over video games! We are movie and TV show buffs who love cuddling up with our pups on the couch to watch everything from Lord of the Rings, Asian dramas, anything from Disney, Marvel Studios or Star Wars, and beyond!
I have always loved hands-on learning experiences and believe in learning through the action of doing. Allowing learners to have opportunities to learn through experiences, providing any resources or support needed, and ensuring a system that enables success is the most important part of education for me. Being able to witness the learner gaining confidence in their abilities and the pride that comes with success, is a gift that I wish to continue experiencing. Every person has endless potential and I am passionate about watching them grow!
I spent 9 years as a visual art educator. As wonderful as this experience has been, I wish to continue learning and pursue my new passion of instructional design and and learning experience design. It is endlessly exciting how much knowledge there is out there to be learned and shared!
